Kia India is working to launch it’s first electric vehicle the EV6 in Indian market which was recently spotted testing undisguised in Hyderabad. The EV is expected to reach Indian shores via CBU route and is expected to launch in June 2022.
The EV6 is based on the Hyundai Group’s Electric-Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) and features the Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design language. The Kia EV6 exterior gets elements such as a sleek front grille, large LED headlamps, unique DRL signature, etc.
Globally the EV6 is offered with two battery options – 58 kWh and 77.4 kWh. The lower battery-spec model is available with two options- a 170hp single-motor & RWD layout or a 235hp dual-motor & AWD layout.
The larger battery pack is also available in two variants – a 229hp single-motor with RWD and a 325hp dual-motor with AWD system. The top-spec GT performance oriented version comes with dual-motor set-up & AWD system which produces 585hp and 740 Nm of torque resulting 0-100 k/ph in just 3.5 seconds and can achieve top speed of 260 k/ph. The Kia EV6 gets a driving range of up to 500 km on a full charge.
